Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then located multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests indicate the liquid was likely human blood.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in relation with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for information.
A senior representative commented the attack left him speechless and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
